Short Film: Maya and the Balloons

In this project a 3d animation short film featuring on main character of a curious girl is created. The core Idea of the animation is about curiosity that intends to get the colourful balloon by building some obstacles to her. It explains how she overcomes from this situation clearly. This animation gives the detailed explanation about the selection of the idea and the implementations of liveliness are used. I am very much thankful to my project supervisor Chris Williams, School of Computing, Teesside University for guiding me all the way through this project very patiently and honestly. His meetings always motivate me, without his advice and corrections in this project would not have materialized. And I am also thankful to all my family members along with friends for their critiques, observations and support during this project.

The 12 Rules of Animation

Animation as we know it has been around since Horner invented the zoetrope in 1834. Since then animators have developed a set of rules that help us to draw viewers into the world we have created. From Disney classics to the latest stereoscopic 3D productions, we’ve plundered them all to find the 12 key techniques you need to master to be a top-flight animator. 12 Principles

Mimes Ordinary mimes may not get many laughs, but in this act, one mime tries to hunt down another as they move across the stage and through the audience. One mime comes out first, looking around fearfully and searching for a hiding place. Then the other one comes out in pursuit. They lose sight of one another, looking around suspiciously, ducking down to hide, and then searching frantically. Finally, they meet on stage and wrestle with one another, with one mime rising victoriously. Choose a bright white face makeup, dark black eyeliner applied thickly, and bright red lipstick, as Eye-Makeup-Tips.com says, so makeup will show up well from a distance. When its come into animation, People need to identify what he is doing in mime action. So Texture applying on face is also much needed to replicate our views. I have changed with the UV edits and started animation several scenes to work on it.

Acting for Animation [Task2]: The Art of the Mime - Blocking

My mime character will entertain the audience by making fun moments. Here I have blocked with the 11 rig character. Character will walk and cover the whole body then he takes the scissor to start cutting down.

Mime Video reference

I have seen many video reference for the mime and tried myself too.. Focused on cutting down the hair and reaction timing. Finally I manage to do this. Made some facial expression at this clip. It make me to act more for the future reference. |Take make shots finally come out with one.

Haircut by Mr Bean

Mr.Bean video reference helped me a lot to get some funny actions. Scissor cut action and laugh were observed and noted from him. Finally implemented in animation sequence. here is the video for Mr.Bean haircut. Mr Bean goes to the barber for a haircut. When he mistaken for a hairdresser he has fun styling a boy's hair.

Acting for Animation [Task2]: The Art of the Mime- video reference

In this video trailer for the show "HAND MADE" by Spanish mime actor Carlos Martínez you can see extracts from the pieces The Rose, The Barber, The Butterfly, My First Flight and Bus Stop. Carlos Martínez was destined for the silent art and the language of gesture and complicity. For over 25 years he has refined his craft in order to communicate freely around the world. Recorded live at the Theaterhaus in Stuttgart, Germany, the DVD Hand Made contains the actor's most emblematic pieces. The stage show received the prize of honour, voted by the audience as the best show, of the XXI Almada Theatre Festival, Portugal. Hand Made -- a genuine mark of identity!

Acting for Animation [Task2]: The Art of the Mime

Concept: Here in this sequence I am going to perform as a actor in the stage show. My Idea is like Barber who is going to cut the hair in mime style. I got some of the video reference for mime acting and tips and tricks also used in this task. I am planning to take some of my own video references.

Acting for Animation-[Task1] Rough sketch

Image
I have started with the simple rough sketch with story board for my concept. As the character involve with the crutches, I have setup with the mainpose changing. As he comes out of the room, climbs on the stairs.

Acting for Animation-[Task1] Feedback from ED Hooks

Image
With this idea I have changed the character setup he will walk up the stairs. As he comes out of the room with the crutches, he sees how to go up with the injured leg. So with the help of crutches he moves forward and sees his photo album and medals hanging in the wall. He walks up recollecting his winning moment, suddenly he finds himself spiralling down the wooden staircase. He had missed a step and crutches were moved away from him. Help was just a shout away, but his heart was filled with courage to face a new challenge.. the one to get up on his injured legs. He wriggled, tried to get the crutches straight, his hands were trembling, body was weak and legs in pain, yet he attempted in various ways, finally he had faith in himself and he started moving up. He was standing and he realized the inportance of never ever giving up on the smallest things because it will definitely lead to better results.

Acting for Animation-[Task1] Ref: How to Use Crutches

Image
Sports Medicine Information : How to Use Crutches Properly It shows how to use these crutches when people got injured. I took some references for my acting session as I mentioned in my concept that it was a sports person... He/she will strong enough to do this. here Tove Kane learns how to use crutches after a recent operation on her knee. Who knew stairs could be so tricky? Thanks to Rhiley's encouraging, and understanding the centre of gravity, Tové gets the hang of crutch confidence in a flash!

Acting for Animation-[Task1] Character &Obstacle concept

Info: After thinking for a long time, I came up within an idea like character with crutches. Concept idea: Giving up is easy especially when one has very little hope of anything positive happening. The following anecdote is an expression of the belief to never lose hope that anything good will happen. My character will stood at the top of the staircase thinking how difficult it is going to be go down. As he tries slowly to get the crutches to help him, he cannot help but notice the medals and trophies adorning the shelves along the staircase. With each step down, he thinks of the glorious times he lived in, the fame he achieved as an athlete and the success he enjoyed at the various games. His thoughts are fully engrossed in a particularly exciting match which his team won, without paying attention to the steps. As he exhales in joy while recollecting the winning moment, suddenly he finds himself spiralling down the wooden staircase. He had missed a step and was now lying ver

Acting for Animation

Animation Practice 2: Presenter

Here it's the full length video of the presenter. After blocking stage I had worked on inbetween poses and passes. From my friends suggestions and my tutor comments I have worked and made corrections in lipsyn. However, I couldn't match fully somewhat I have done here in the action part. Here character will be walking to small distance and he will be talking to the audience with personality. I have moved eye contact with camera angle but it slightly goes off. Russel peter original video reference helped me a lot in this assignment. He was speaking too fast in the audio and made nice poses. Final Render part:
